With 15 years of experience as a swim coach, I have dedicated my career to teaching swimmers of all ages and abilities. From enthusiastic kids diving into the pool for the first time to determined adults honing their technique, and even triathletes striving for that perfect stroke. I am passionate about helping each individual reach their unique goals.
Before we dive into the details of my swimming background, I want to take a moment to address one of the most noticeable differences about me. As you may have noticed, I am bald. I have a rare autoimmune disorder called Alopecia Universalis, which causes all of my hair to fall out. While this is neither life-threatening nor contagious, it has had a significant impact on my life and has shaped me into the person I am today. I believe one of the main reasons I am so passionate about both swimming and fitness is that they helped me regain my confidence and belief in my ability to do hard things and overcome obstacles.
My official swimming journey began at the age of 11, when I took on my first job teaching swimming through Swim America, a program run by my childhood swim team each summer in Fredericksburg, Texas. Over the years, both as a competitive swimmer and coach, I was fortunate to be mentored by my coach, who has over 30 years of experience in teaching swim lessons, coaching age-group swim teams, and leading masters swimming. His guidance and mentorship fueled my passion for teaching both children and adults the essential life skill of swimming and building confidence in the water.
In 2021, I made the decision to move back to North Idaho, where I was born. Upon returning to Coeur d’Alene, I began working at a large franchise swim school. This introduced me to a variety of new programs that expanded my knowledge and skills. Around the same time, I pursued a career in personal training and group fitness, earning my NASM CPT and CrossFit Level 1 certifications in 2022. I began coaching adult and teen group fitness classes at a local gym, which further fueled my passion for helping people achieve their fitness goals.
In the spring of 2023, I took an exciting step by launching my own business, offering personalized swim lessons for all ages and skill levels. My goal is to teach my students how to become strong, safe, and confident swimmers, giving them skills and water safety knowledge that will last a lifetime.
On the rare moments that I am not teaching you can find me outside hiking in the mountains, paddle boarding, exploring hidden places, and camping. I also participate in 1-2 long open water swims per year. Another huge passion is working out. When I’m not in the pool I’m usually doing CrossFit. I compete in CrossFit competitions a couple times a year and I’m pretty involved with my CrossFit gym. I participate in a lot of our community events and community workouts. I also enjoy going and visiting my friends and family back in Texas when I have a free moment to get away.
Teaching swimming isn’t just a job for me—it’s my true passion and a source of immense joy. I’m thrilled to work with you and your children, sharing my love for swimming and the importance of water safety.
