With over 16 years of coaching experience, I help swimmers of all ages become safe, confident, and competent in their swim skills. From young children learning to swim for the first time to adults improving their technique and athletes training for competition, my passion is helping every swimmer grow stronger and more skilled in the water.

Before diving into my swimming background, I want to address one of the most noticeable things about me. As you may have noticed, I am bald. I have a rare autoimmune disorder called Alopecia Universalis, which causes all of my hair to fall out. While this condition is neither life-threatening nor contagious, it has had a significant impact on my life and helped shape me into the person I am today.

Swimming and fitness played a huge role in helping me regain confidence and reminding me that I am capable of doing hard things and overcoming challenges.

My swimming journey began at age 11 when I started teaching swim lessons through Swim America, a program run by my childhood swim team in Fredericksburg, Texas. As both a competitive swimmer and young instructor, I was fortunate to be mentored by my coach, who has over 30 years of experience teaching swim lessons, coaching age-group swim teams, and leading masters swimming. His mentorship helped inspire my passion for teaching children and adults the life-saving skill of swimming and building confidence in the water.

In 2021, I moved back to North Idaho, where I was born. After returning to Coeur d’Alene, I worked at a large franchise swim school, where I gained experience with a variety of teaching programs and expanded my skills as an instructor.

Around the same time, I pursued a career in fitness. In 2022, I earned my NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and CrossFit Level 1 certifications and began coaching adult and teen group fitness classes at a local gym. Coaching in both swimming and fitness strengthened my passion for helping people grow stronger, more confident, and capable.

In the spring of 2023, I launched Swim4Life Swim Academy, offering personalized swim lessons for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. My goal is to help each student become a safe, strong, and confident swimmer while developing water safety skills that will last a lifetime.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me outdoors hiking, paddle boarding, camping, or exploring the mountains around North Idaho. I also participate in one or two long open-water swim events each year. Fitness is another big part of my life, and when I’m not in the pool, I’m usually training at my CrossFit gym or competing in local CrossFit competitions.

Teaching swimming isn’t just a job for me—it’s truly something I love. I feel incredibly grateful to share my passion for swimming and water safety with families in our community.
